Vegan Chocolate Silk Pie
Vegan chocolate silk pie is as heavenly as it sounds! This is one of my very favorite desserts. Coconut cream and melted chocolate are whipped into a fluffy chocolate mousse and piled into a pie crust. You can choose whether to get it plain (though really it is anything but plain) or with whipped coconut cream on top. It is decadent and rich and tastes wonderful with fruit such as bananas or strawberries.
This chocolate silk pie will be the star dessert at your holiday party or dinner!
For the crust you can choose an all natural oat/nut butter crust (it can be made with certified gluten free oats if you choose), or a more traditional crust made with vegan butter and whole wheat flour.
This pie freezes and thaws beautifully, so you can order it well ahead of time and have it waiting in your freezer! I recommend putting it in the fridge to thaw the day before you are going to eat it, or at least in the morning if you are going to serve it in the evening. In a pinch you can let it thaw on the counter for half an hour if you forgot to take it out of the freezer ahead of time.
*This pie cannot be left out of the fridge for too long, as it will get quite soft and eventually melt into a puddle! It has a wonderful luscious texture when served straight from the fridge. So this is not a pie to bring to someone’s house for a potluck unless you know you can put it in their fridge right away!
I will freeze the pie before delivery so it stays cold during transport. When you get it you can choose to put it in the freezer or fridge.
The pie will keep in the fridge for up to a week, so you don’t have to eat it all at once. You can also freeze leftover individual pieces to eat whenever you’d like! It will be fine in the freezer for several months.
Choose from large 9” pie or half size 5” pie
Filling: coconut cream, unrefined sugar, vegan semisweet chocolate, cocoa powder, pure vanilla extract, himalayan salt
Oat Crust: oat flour**, peanut butter, gula melaka, water, cocoa powder, himalayan salt
Flour/Butter Crust: whole wheat flour, vegan margarine (Nuttelex), water, himalayan salt
Whipped Coconut Cream: coconut cream, gula melaka, pure vanilla extract
**certfied gluten free oats can be used if you choose that option from the drop down menu. All products I make are made in the same kitchen (including wheat items) though I take special care to wash everything carefully.
