Smoky Barbecue Sauce
Ah, delicious barbecue sauce! That sweet, yet tangy, deep and smoky sauce that is finger licking good. There are numerous types and brands of barbecue sauce available in the grocery store, and many of them are already vegan. But I still never liked buying them due to the ingredient lists. I don’t need multiple preservatives, refined sugars, corn syrup, starches, and food coloring in my barbecue sauce. No thank you! So I came up with my own recipe that is bold, full of flavor, made with natural and organic ingredients, and so tasty!
If you have tried our barbecue ribs, this is the same barbecue sauce that we use on those. In fact, one pack of our barbecue ribs uses a whole jar of this sauce!
SOOOO.... what else can you do with this barbecue sauce? Here are some ways that we use it!
- Dip your fries in it!
- Use it as the sauce for a meal bowl - with rice, veggies, beans, etc.
- saute some onions and mushrooms. Add some barbecue sauce and water. Eat on a sandwich or a side dish. Shredded oyster mushrooms work really well here as a “pulled pork” type sandwich or wrap!
- Marinate tofu in the sauce and then bake or grill (this is even tastier if you freeze/thaw the tofu first so it soaks up the sauce more!)
- Chop up or slice some seitan like our sausages, herb roast, or smoky roast, mix with some sauce and sauté or bake to heat up. Use as a side dish or in a sandwich or wrap.
1 jar - 150ml
storage info: keep your barbecue sauce in the fridge. I don’t know exactly how long it lasts, but I’ve kept it for a month and it was still good, so currently my suggestion is to use within 1 month.
Tomato paste, filtered water, gula melaka (coconut sugar), organic blackstrap molasses, organic apple cider vinegar, liquid smoke, onion powder, garlic powder, himalayan salt, spices
