Vegan Barbecue Ribs
Get ready for an easy and delicious barbecue dinner! These are great for a simple meal at home or bring them to a barbecue to show others that you don’t have to be stuck with only salad! These seitan based ribs are smothered with a homemade irresistible smoky barbecue sauce, sweetened only with gula melaka and molasses. I never was satisfied with the ingredients in store bought barbecue sauces, so I started making my own with good ingredients! They are packed with protein and even made with no oil in the ribs - using tahini or peanut butter instead (I use a small amount of sunflower oil for grilling the seitan as part of the cooking process, but they can ba made without that step if you need them to be oil free)
These ribs are precooked, so all you have to do is heat them in the oven for about ten minutes or pop them onto the grill until just heated through. Use them within 7 to 10 days, or freeze for later.
When you get them they are folded in half, so 8 ribs on top of 8 ribs. The sauce is in between (so it doesn’t get wasted getting all over the packaging!) all you have to do is separate the two halves and put them sauce side up in a pan or on your grill to heat up.
This is enough to feed 4 people (so 4 ribs each) if you are just eating ribs with some side dishes. If you are also having sausages and several other side dishes, then it could be enough for 8 people (so 2 ribs each).
